Quick facts:

-
Assignment created with college students in mind (though presumably could be adjusted for advanced high schoolers)
-
Each project is typically created by small groups of 2-4 students
-
All components of the assignment are completed as a group
-
Best as a semester-long assignment

Overall project goals:

-
Translate specific academic arguments and theory from course readings into ideas that can be presented to an audience beyond the class and in a different format
-
Think about arguments from course materials in new and differently complex ways

Students will:

-
Focus on one specific reading (or a related set of ideas) and draw substantially & overtly from this text.
-
Articulate how their intended audience will inform the project content and form.
-
Make electronic or digital versions of their project materials (if they are originally physical) so that they can be easily shared and distributed. Note: if the project is a one-time event, instructions for how to replicate the event elsewhere or by others should be created.

Components of the translation assignment:

-
